- Receipt number or confirmation number for telephone or online transactions.
Losing a warranty card is no reason for any company to refuse a warranty. They can check in their system if the warranty has been claimed before. If unclaimed, they have to honour the warranty. Companies must maintain record of all products sold and furnish duplicate bills or necessary documents so that consumers can get a claim on the warranty.
Indian Govt has issued guidelines that – The e-warranty principle mooted by the government will enable the buyer to claim benefits for damages to a product within the warranty period anywhere across the country, irrespective of the place of purchase. “The onus of maintaining records will be on the manufacturer. A consumer can claim benefits under the warranty clause even if he does not have an invoice of the purchase,” Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said.
